SENAMAN TUA FOR COLD, FLU & RECOVERY

A gentle practice to support your body when you’re feeling run down and a valuable practice to learn while you’re well.

Have you ever felt that familiar first sign that a cold or flu might be on its way? A scratchy throat. A little heaviness. Your energy suddenly feels different and you think, “I’m coming down with something.”

This is a practice I’ve personally come to value, and one that I’ve been sharing with my PT clients and retreat participants for some time, with very encouraging feedback.

How this practice came about

During the COVID times, Senaman Tua teachers developed a specific series of gentle movements and breathwork to support the body during times of illness. These practices were developed during an extraordinary period when people were dealing with respiratory illness and going into hospitals. What emerged was a beautiful, gentle approach of traditional Senaman Tua movement routine with it’s breathwork and body awareness designed not to push or exhaust the body, but to work with it for supporting the healing process.

Since then, I’ve continued to use these practices personally and incorporate them into my work with clients and on retreats. I particularly value having these tools available when I feel the first signs of a cold or flu, then fully implement during periods of flu/ cold and when I’m feeling depleted.

What will we explore?

This is not a workout. There is no need to push, sweat or “power through” when you’re not feeling your best. Instead, we’ll explore gentle Senaman Tua movements and breathwork that encourage you to slow down, connect with your body and work within your own capacity.

You’ll learn practices that can be useful:

  • 🌿 When you notice the first signs of a cold or flu

  • 🌿 When you’re feeling tired, run down or depleted

  • 🌿 How to use the routine as part of your personal wellbeing routine during cold and flu

  • 🌿 While gradually rebuilding yourself during recovery

  • 🌿 At home, when you need something simple and grounding

Why learn this while you’re well?

Because when you’re already feeling sick, the last thing you want is to have to figure out what to do.

Learn the practices now, while you’re feeling good and you’ll have them in your toolkit when you need them.

My hope is that you leave the session not only feeling more connected to your body, but with a handful of simple practices that you can continue to use for yourself.

A practice you can make your own

One of the things I love about Senaman Tua is that it isn't about forcing the body into a particular shape or performance. It’s about listening. You will be encouraged to work at your own level and to adapt the movements according to how your body feels on the day. Whether you’re completely new to Senaman Tua or have experienced it through my PT or programmes, this session offers an opportunity to receive this very useful and applicable routine for you and your loved ones for years to come.

Come learn it while you’re well, so you have it when you need it.
